Do I need a second device?
Updated
Stealward works best with two devices: one watches, and the other carries the alerts.
Most people arm the laptop they’re leaving on the table and keep their phone with them. The laptop watches your belongings; your phone is where the alert arrives the moment something moves. Both need to be signed in to the same Stealward account.
Why two?
The whole idea is that you step away from the device you leave behind. If an alert only appeared on that same device, you wouldn’t see it. A second device you keep with you is what lets Stealward reach you when you’re at the counter, in the bathroom, or on a call.
You can use any mix of a Mac, iPad, or iPhone — for example, arm your Mac and get alerts on your iPhone, or arm your iPad and get alerts on your Mac.
Can I use just one device?
Yes, with a smaller safety net. A single device can still record the session and sound its alarm locally if it detects a problem. What it can’t do is quietly reach you somewhere else — there’s no second device to carry the alert. For that reason we recommend keeping a second device with you whenever you can.
